Windows/Unix System Administrator

Intertec Consulting specializes in placing Information Technology professionals with Fortune 500 companies throughout the U.S. and Costa Rica. Currently, we are looking for a Windows/Unix Administrator for a 1 year 1099 or W2 assignment with a large client located in Downtown Chicago, IL.

This person will have the following technical & soft skills and be able to function in a lead role.

Technical skills:
Windows (XP, 2000, 2003) -- Windows/DOS batch files
UNIX (Sun Solaris, Red Hat Linux, AIX) -- Shell scripting in various shells (Bourne, Korn, Bash, etc)
Mainframe (VM, MVS) -- JCL (not a requirement but would be nice!)
Secure FTP, FTP over SSH, HTTPS, SCP
Digital certificate administration
Secure file transfer packages such as PuTTY, SSH Secure Shell, Tumbleweed, Connect:Direct with Secure Plus
Experience in coding c++, java, perl, python, sql (any modern object-oriented language)

Soft skills:
Experience in designing business solutions to automate routine tasks
Aptitude for solving current problems and anticipating future problems
Ability to keep cool when customer displays emotions
Ability to express technical ideas in ways that non-technical people can understand
Ability to work on projects in small increments rather than only doing heads-down work. This job will not only require multi-tasking but will also require the candidate to put work down mid-stream and pick it up later after a crisis has been solved.
Ability to track work assignments independently and to follow up with users to make sure questions get answered
