Wintel Platform Designer

Locally owned, privately held company looking for an experienced Wintel Platform Designer to join their team.  This is a full-time position, with a competitive salary and paid overtime!  Generous benefits package includes family medical coverage (no annual deductible), vision and dental as well as paid time off, 401K and employee life & accidental death & dismemberment and short/long-term disability coverage.

 

Selected candidate will be an experienced Windows server professional that has extensive work experience with Windows 2000 and 2003 in a large corporate environment. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of four years in-depth combined experience with Windows 2000 Server, Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000 and XP clients, and a good understanding of TCP/IP. The candidate must have significant experience in the design and support of enterprise Windows server solutions, both hardware and software.

 

Primary Responsibilities include:

? Participating in customer projects: steps include gathering customer requirements, evaluating hardware and software, composing written project recommendations, finalizing technology agreements with customers, preparing bills-of-material, initiating.

? Preparing reports and maintaining server inventories, asset tracking, software maintenance, security compliance, etc.

? Providing 2nd and 3rd level Windows server technical support to internal server groups: participation in an on-call rotation and assisting with 1st level hotline support as necessary.

? Promoting server and application changes into development and production environments through a structured change control process.

? Building and troubleshooting sandbox servers: installing, testing, troubleshooting, and documenting server upgrades, configuration changes, and patches.

 

Required Technical Skills include:

? 4+ years of experience as a Wintel Platform Designer. 

? Enterprise-level experience with Microsoft Windows Server operating systems and products.

? Experience with a multi-forest Active Directory environment.

? Experience configuring, installing, and supporting servers in a distributed LAN/MAN/WAN environment.

? Experience troubleshooting application performance and configurations on Windows servers.

? Experience with TCP/IP and related protocols.

 

Preferred Technical Skills include:

? IT infrastructure project management experience.

? Experience designing, installing and administering Microsoft Cluster Servers.

? Experience designing, installing and administering Microsoft Internet technologies.

? Experience analyzing and interpreting protocol analyzer traces.

? Experience designing, editing, and testing Local and Group Policy Objects.
