Work Remotely - Systems Administrator/Transition Engineer

Intertec Consulting specializes in placing Information Technology professionals with Fortune 500 companies throughout the U.S. and Costa Rica. Currently, we are putting together a team of Systems Administrators/Transition Engineers for a client to work remotely from their home office anywhere in the USA. These positions are 1 year contract opportunities - either W2 OR 1099 (corp to corp).

***Once the successful candidates are selected, they MUST be available to attend an initial 4 week training period in Arizona. Once the training is complete, they will work remotely from their home office. If you cannot attend a 4 week training (expenses paid) in Arizona, you will not be considered.****

In essence, these positions are as a Web Hosting Transition Engineer. You will be part of a team responsible for migrating projects from development through production within the web complex. You will be ressponsible for installation and testing of applications into QA and production environments utilizing IBM WebSphere, IBM MQ Series, DCE/DFS, AIX, Sun Solaris, Windows 2000/2003, shell scripting, DB2 in a very large scale environment (Over 2500 servers between development, quality assurance and production).

Must have:

Demonstrated knowlege of Sun Solaris 2.x OR AIX 5.x OR Windows 2003 and 2000. BEST fit would be someone with a combination of Unix and Windows experience.

Experience with Unix and/or Windows systems integrating with Websphere 5.1

Strong knowledge and applied experience with LAN/WAN technology and TCP/IP.

Experience working with a 3-Tier application and network environment

Experience working in a development to production environment

Additional skills:

Strong knowledge and applied experience with one or more of the following: Netscape Enterprise Server, SunOne, Apache Web Server/IBM HTTP Server

Experience working with Linux in an enterprise environment

Experience with enterprise application and systems support

Understanding of applied principles of E-Business

Applied experience with automation tools and scripting

Experience with command level (no graphical interface) operation with one or more of the following: IBM WebSphere Application Server versions 3.5, 4.0, and 5.0

Experience with or knowledge of Message Queueing (MQ) and Java Messaging Service (JMS)

Experience with or knowledge of Veritas Volume Manager

Experience with or knowledge of Veritas Cluster Server (VCS, Experience with or knowledge of UDB/DB2 server administration


These positions are for a dual role of System Administrators/Transition Engineer. The SA's are responsible for maintaining operational readiness of web, application, and database servers. The SA functions as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the operating system and environment. The SA is also responsible for process, standards, and best practices. The Transition Engineer provides a technical role in support of development and solution of I/T products varying in size and complexity. They apply and provide technical skills in the areas of study, analysis, design, programming, and product installation, testing and system integration. They work closely with business partners and technical teams in understanding the technical profile of each application, ensuring that standards, policies and process are adhered to, that the product is adequately solutioned and tested to maintain levels of integrity and availability in the web environment.

Experience in diversified background of applied technical support including experience in Web and Internet technologies. Ability to analyze problems and identify solutions in a high pressure environment; ability to apply advanced troubleshooting techniques Strong written and oral communications, Ability to multitask and work multiple issues simultaneously, Strong customer interface skills.


VERY IMPORTANT: Again - you MUST be able to attend training for 4 weeks at the beginning of the assignment in Arizona.
