DBA for DB2 Universal Database (UDB) for iSeries

N-Tier Solutions Inc. has a 6+ month contract engagement for a Database Administrator (DBA) for the iSeries platform.

BASIC PURPOSE: Support the development teams, support the production systems, and be responsible for physical database changes and additions on multiple platforms (iSeries (AKA AS/400), pSeries (AKA RS/6000)).

NATURE and SCOPE/PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

DB2/400 / Oracle Database Analyst
Job Duties:
oCreation of any database object in DB2/400 Database
oCreation of any database object in Oracle Database
oDesign databases and processes in Designer 2000
oHelp resolve RI conflicts and record deadlock problems in Oracle and DB2/400
oOracle Security
oExecute and monitor data fixes as necessary
oHelp resolve communication issues between Oracle and DB2/400 (Access Manager & Oracle
o Transparent Gateway)

DB2/400 / Oracle Administration
Job Duties:
oMonitor and troubleshoot performance issues in DB2/400 (UDB)
oMonitor daily Oracle backups through TSM and RMAN
oMonitor Oracle Table Spaces and Datafile status for space constraints
oMonitor Oracle database performance as needed
oExecute and monitor data fixes as necessary
oTrouble shoot client connection problems
oMonitor and troubleshoot remote database connections (to other Oracles and to iSeries (AKA AS/400))

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, EXPERIENCE and MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
We are looking for an experienced database administrator who is familiar with database skills on both the iSeries (AKA AS/400) and Oracle platforms - OR - an experienced iSeries (AKA AS/400) DBA who would like the opportunity to cross train on the Oracle platform.

General
Must be willing to work on all platforms and databases in use at client site
Any DB2 Universal, OS/2, SQL Anywhere, AIX experience a plus
