:: Description:
As a Release Engineer at salesforce.com, you will work closely with internal IT development, QA, and system engineering in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where your abilities to multi-task, firefight and your passion for automation will help you excel at your job. You will make an immediate difference at salesforce.com with your in-depth knowledge of source code control and configuration management and hands-on experience with software development and release cycles. Most importantly, you will constantly be on the lookout for ways to streamline, enhance and automate development, QA, release and system engineering tasks and processes, and thus continue to refine and redefine your position.

:: Responsibilities:
- Strategizing on best practices for ongoing development, feature branch, and common library management, and implementing processes to enforce them.
- Architecting tools to run and monitor optimized, nightly and on-demand builds across multiple development branches. These will be instrumental in enabling automated deployment of selected builds across multiple servers while maximizing availability and minimizing build times.
- Perforce management and administration.
- Designing and implementing utilities to set up and monitor the various development, QA and integration testing environments.
- Developing and documenting release procedures and policies.
Managing coordination between development, system administration and DBA groups.
- Proactively following new feature development to scope configuration and installation requirements and keeping the various environments in sync with Development and QA's changing needs.

:: Required Skills/Experience:
- At least 5 years experience in configuration management and build/release engineering with solid knowledge of all phases of the software development life cycle. Experience with very short release cycles is a plus.
- Strong experience with UNIX systems, preferably in core administration
- Proficiency in Java programming and debugging
- Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL; solid understanding of relational database systems (preferably Oracle).
- Administrator level experience with source control systems, Perforce is a plus. Must have supported complex development environments with multiple active branches.
- Experience with Ant or other make utilities.
- Solid understanding of web and application servers.
- HTML, JavaScript and Perl.
- Must be a self starter and be able to take ownership of tasks and projects.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, and a proven ability to juggle multiple high priority tasks

- Oracle Ebusiness Suite 11i & DBA experience
- Bachelor's Degree. A BS in CS or EE preferred.
