APT Technician

Job Description: R&D / APT Technician III ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist R&D engineers, scientists, and / or teams in the development and analysis of advanced process concepts, internal products and designs, competitive products, or equipment. Wet chemistry experience needed. Organize, coordinate, and execute builds, testing, and summaries of process improvements & prototypes. Develop processing concepts or fixtures, and resulting prototypes for R&D and Market
analysis. Communicate work, priorities, and status with several departments R&D, Marketing and PD.
Assist engineer in Design of Experiment and individual experimental activities.
Must be able to conduct experiments and collect data per protocols and procedures.
Develop test methods or work with other departments on new test methods.
Create & document new work procedures for newly developed process.
Have excellent mechanical & analytical skills, knowledge in the use of mechanical tools, measuring & analytical equipment.
May provide work direction and / or training to operators or technicians.

EDUCATION and /or EXPERIENCE:
Associates Degree (A.A.) or equivalent in related discipline and a minimum of 5 years experience in a related technical field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation or maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Effectively communicate project progress via written tech reports to management.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as averaging, numerical comparisons, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems, involving several variables. Must be able to make decisions based on experience, facts and intelligent risk taking with limited supervision. Decision making responsibilities are required on a daily basis. Ability to resolve project conflicts to achieve desired outcome.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must have knowledge of word processing / spreadsheet software (Excel/Word/) and statistical software such as Minitab preferred. Must be able to be a team player and work with cross-functional teams. Must be able to multitask across multiple projects and have effective communication skills to support project goals. Very desirable to be familiar with 6 sigma methodologies & utilize were applicable.
