Applications Engineer

Megger is a world leader in the manufacturing and marketing of advanced test and measuring instruments for electrical power applications. We currently have career opportunities for Applications Engineers at our Dallas location.



Applications Engineer positions available in the following areas:



1) Metering (revenue & power quality)

Area specific knowledge & experience: Knowledge of the design, operation, maintenance and data collection for power utility revenue meters. Experience calibrating watt-hour meters, standards, and instrument transformers for accuracy verification. Experience in performing power quality studies, characterizing power quality event signatures, and waveforms for typical power quality events.



2) Power Cable (underground fault location)

Area specific knowledge & experience: Experience in Power Cable design, construction, testing, cable fault-finding technology and techniques.



3) Substation Apparatus

Area specific knowledge & experience: Technical knowledge of the design, operation, testing and maintenance of power transformers, switchgear, power cables, rotating equipment, and power circuit breakers.



Responsibilities:

? Provide technical support for Megger products via the telephone, with personal visits, demonstrations, and hands-on training

? Validate product specifications through application testing of hardware and software products.

? Participate in Megger marketing and sales activities and industry technical meetings and conferences.

? Write technical papers for industry publications and presentation at industry events.

? Stay abreast of industry practices and trends relevant to electrical testing and maintenance of substation apparatus and protective devices.

? Ability to maintain and improve knowledge of power system apparatus, protective devices and applicable Megger products.

? Contribute to product specifications, software, and application literature.

Qualifications:

? B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Systems (preferred) or equivalent work experience

? Minimum 5 years experience in maintenance and testing of electric power system apparatus, power cables, metering, and protective devices.

? Above average verbal and written communications skills

? Knowledge of industry trends and practices

? Ability to travel (40%)

? Position requires strong computer skills including knowledge of various Window platforms, software installation, various PC I/O ports and Microsoft Office.

? Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities

? Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
