Area Service Representative (20060048)

Our service representatives are the Ambassador's of Tennant, working with our customers to deliver solutions that create a cleaner safer world. Working at our customer's facility, the service representative will maintain, troubleshoot, and repair Tennant products, and provide quality customer service and communication to minimize costs and ensure satisfaction with Tennant products.
Specific Responsibilities:


Responsible for troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, air and water-cooled combustion engines, and diesel-gas-LP powered engine problems on all Tennant products.

Responsible for scheduling and completing all Planned Maintenance Service Agreements on Tennant products as scheduled.

Responsible for monitoring and controlling expenses and assuming complete service responsibility within his/her territory.

Assist manager by making territory boundary changes and customer alignment recommendations.

Satisfy, in a timely and complete fashion, all business reporting documentation: timesheets, repair orders, machine checklists, receiving records, expense reports, and repair order logs.

Receive incoming parts orders, verify quantities, store material in proper service truck bin location, assign and adjust bin locations, and assure that excess inventory is purged.

Advise the customer of his/her present and/or future service needs.

Estimate machine repair requirements and prepare necessary data to provide an accurate repair quote to the customer.

Accountable for complete service product knowledge and services offered by Tennant Company. Must comply with all service department and company procedures, policies, and programs.

Responsible for effectively scheduling time and arranging customer service calls to maintain effective customer service.

Maintain records of all service activities within his/her area through the use and regular updating of customer repair order logs, service agreements, and completed repair order files.

Temporary ?substitutes? in other service territories as required in cases of illness, vacations, vacancies, etc.

Responsible for proper and safe use, maintenance, and reporting for all Tennant Company property. This includes trucks, trailers, tools, and equipment.

Advise sales representatives of potential customer applications for equipment replacements or additions.

Consistently present professional image, both in personal appearance and condition of company equipment.

Strong mechanical aptitude.

Technically knowledgeable and skilled in the troubleshooting and repair of mechanical systems, hydraulics, electrical systems, and engines.

Ability to safely use hand and power shop tools, equipment, and diagnostic devices.

Ability to understand and fill out service-related documents and paperwork.

Ability to understand and manage expenses within his/her service operation.

Good verbal communication skills.

Understand customer service values.

Basic inventory management skills.

Good estimating skills.

Ability to lay out realistic plans and use them to effectively manage their service territory, scheduling service work.

Good organization skills.


Education/Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Valid driver?s license plus meet Tennant Company driving policy requirements.

Demonstrated ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision.

Two years of experience working in direct contact with customers on service-related activities.

Two years of experience as a Tennant Company Field Service Representative.


OR Two years of technical school training in troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment, plus two years of experience repairing mobile equipment (forklifts, small engine repair, construction equipment, or automobiles).


OR Four years of experience repairing mobile equipment. Repair experience is defined as diagnosing and troubleshooting problems on mobile equipment that has been used, allowing for the ?wear? factors on equipment.
