We currently have an opportunity for a Calibration and Repair Laboratory Manager for our San Diego, CA location. The ideal candidate will provide the leadership and oversee all service operations for the San Diego location. This is a team atmosphere primarily in a laboratory environment and at customer sites. This is a regular full-time position.


RESPONSIBILITIES

? Oversee a commercial calibration and repair laboratory operation with guidance from within the organization and using computer tracking of the calibration and repair process. This position requires direct interaction with local sales personnel in addition to corporate administrative personnel.

? Manage laboratory operations to budgeted financial objectives with Profit and Loss (P&L) responsibility.

? Manage and control key variable expense accounts.

? Supervise technical and administrative personnel.

? Maintain appropriate levels of accreditation and scope as defined by management; enhance and expand the laboratory scope of accreditation (ISO/IEC 17025).

? Instill operational process efficiencies to reduce costs and provide technical support for sales and operations efforts.

? Manage service performance of the laboratory to corporate objectives. Assist technical staff in the analysis and resolution of complex problems commonly found in TMDE.

? Manage the laboratory to maximize utilization and leverage of assets. Ascertain lab capabilities and increase them when relevant.




EXPERIENCE

A background in the field of metrology or bench calibration experience is required As well as 4 years of supervisor/management experience.

Formal experience in Physical Dimensional, RF/Microwave and general test equipment calibration. Formal PMEL or equivalent technical training is highly desirable.

2-3 years of proven P&L management experience and lab budget creation.

Strong communication skills, both written and oral.

Proficiency with MS Office applications

Able to lift 50 lbs. without assistance.

Preferred
BA/BS or equivalent in Business Management
AA in Electronic or Mechanical Engineering sciences
Familiarity with the San Diego customer base
Experienced in the support of Life Sciences and RF/Telecommunications markets and in Field Service Calibration performance and support experience
