Principal
Duties:
Mechanics perform required maintenance functions
on all rolling stock including power units, trailers, and jifflox converters. Mechanics may also be required to perform maintenance functions on equipment utilized in the dock operation, for example, forklifts, and yard horses. Mechanics prepare linehaul and P&D units for dispatch. This may include performing pretrip equipment inspections, ensuring the validation of
permits, and fueling and cleaning units. Mechanics
may also be required to reconfigure equipment.


Minimum
Requirements:
Mechanics must have their own tools. Mechanics
must be at least 18 years of age and able to read,
write, and converse in English as well as comprehend various technical manuals and instructions. Mechanics must also have two (2) years experience and/or training, and must pass a physical ability test, physical examination, and drug screen.


Preferred
Requirements:
Four (4) years experience and/or training involving engine rebuilding, transmissions, differentials, or ignitions is preferred. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred for mechanic applicants.
