JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

We are seeking a Central Office Field Technician II to join our Professional Services.

 

The Field Technician II will support Commissioning, Integration and Maintenance service deployments for Professional Service customers. This individual will provide on-site technical guidance to lower level Field Technicians and will posses an in-depth knowledge of various technologies supported.

 

Responsibilities will include the following:

 

? Commissioning, integration and maintenance activities involving telecommunications network elements. Loads software, sets initial network parameters and commissions equipment by testing and validating functionality. Supports customer activation of new circuits by testing connections to other pieces of equipment and integrating circuits on network.
? Performs preventive or reactive maintenance of network equipment and circuits. May lead less experience technicians with testing and troubleshooting network equipment and performance. Uses test equipment such as: T-berd, Fast Ethernet, GigE.
? Perform installation activities such as wiring, cabling and connecting/terminating cables to support network moves, adds and changes.
? Provide verbal and written status to internal and external customers.
? Partners with other disciplines to perform root cause analysis on process gaps.
? Receive and inventory materials required for installation and/or maintenance projects.

REQUIREMENTS:

 

? Associates Degree in an appropriate technology desirable.
? Experience testing Nortel and/or Cisco equipment.
? 3-4 years related experience.
? 70% regional travel will be required.
