Chief Engineer

EMCOR Facilities Services, a division of EMCOR Group has an immediate need for a Chief Engineer in McGaw Park!  Candidate will oversee the efficient operation and maintenance of all Facility Maintenance systems, including the day-to-day training of the operating staff. Also, the Chief Engineer is responsible for the supervision of the operation team. Candidate will apprise the Regional/General Manager of any and all conditions affecting building service and tenant comfort.


 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


 


§ Supervises and directs engineering staff and monitors performance of their assigned responsibilities for required 24 hour coverage. Performs and/or directs their performance of all engineering departmental service requests, ensuring that work performed in these areas is accomplished efficiently with a minimum amount of disruption and inconvenience. Checks malfunctioning equipment and ascertains corrective action required to restore to satisfactory operating condition. Manages departmental staff, including selection, scheduling and job assignments; counseling, appraisals and recognition; recommending salary where applicable, promotions, disciplinary, terminations and other personnel action.


§ Will work with client and facility personnel to schedule equipment to be taken off line so that preventative maintenance can be performed. Monitors operation of electrical and mechanical equipment supporting the facility and facilities critical operations. Implementation of an effective preventative maintenance program to ensure that building machinery and systems meet or exceed their rated life.


§ Candidate will have significant involvement in all construction work. Plan review during or after design but prior to start of construction. Chief Engineer is to ensure the standards for the building continue to be met, all work is done in a safe manner, the construction site, staging areas, and common corridors are kept dean and free of construction related equipment and materials during construction. Responsible for performing an in-depth inspection of the construction project before completion to ensure the contractor completed the work per the approved specifications and plans.


§ Responsible for submitting an operations and capital budget for his areas of responsibility, efficient energy management and coordination of contractors working in the building.


§ Provides training and support aimed at expanding the capabilities of the operations staff.


§ Develops and displays a positive attitude towards the Safety and Loss Control efforts, be familiar with the established EPS Safety Work Procedure, work effectively to integrate them into daily work activities. Actively participate in safety committee, audits, and employee training programs, Hold subordinate supervisors, subcontractor and employees accountable for the implementation of Loss Control Program.


Candidate should have HVAC and electrical engineering training required as well as a through knowledge of plumbing, automation and life safety/fire protection systems.  Must have a thorough understanding of all building related codes and standards (local, state, federal) including OSHA. 


Must have High School diploma or general education degree (GED) as well as 10+ years experience in facility/plant engineering and maintenance supervision. Managerial experience required.  Must have Universal Certification and Engineers license or equivalent.
