Job Description

Meet all requirements of Phelps Dodge Mining Company electrical/instrumentation apprenticeship program to include classroom/correspondence education, competency requirements, and work process hours.
Apprentice is responsible for performing the following under direct electrical/instrumentation supervision:
Perform necessary electrical maintenance tasks on high/medium and low voltage power systems
Install, troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance on electric and instrumentation system
Promote Zero and Beyond safety philosophy
Install, troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance on HVAC systems
Ability and willingness to work shift work, flexible shifts, overtime, and call outs
Adhere to all electrical and instrumentation safety procedures
Willing to work in a team environment
Able to successfully complete all academic and on-the-job requirements of a four year apprenticeship program
Ability to demonstrate that safety is a core value
Ability to utilize all required PPE including respirators
Demonstrated effective past work performance, including no active safety, attendance or counseling (disciplinary) issues
Must be able to read, comprehend and apply verbal and written instructions and procedures and successfully complete the reading/math/writing test
Ability and willingness to follow all safety, environmental and standard operating procedures
Two years industrial work experience in operations or maintenance
Prior electrical/instrumentation/HVAC experience
Ability to work in confined and elevated spaces
Ability to climb stairs, ladders and work at heights
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to bend, twists, and stoop on a frequent basis
Ability to work in all types of weather
Ability to work in all types of environments, i.e., noise, dust, heat
Ability to work on uneven work surfaces
