East Coast Field Engineer

We are looking for an East Coast Field Engineer who has solid field service experience specifically in installation and repairs. As a Field Engineer you will be primarily responsible for providing and supporting the architectural framework for computers, networks and telephony products installed at our Washington DC site as well as other East Coast customer sites. 

 

Primary responsibilities include:

 

* Traveling to customer sites to assist in defining specifications for product installation as well as coordinating and performing installation of product per customer requirements.

 

* Traveling to customer sites to provide second tier technical support.

 

* Participating in Beta testing of Company products.

 

* Configuring, maintaining and supporting in-house and/or on-site lab environments.

 

* Maintaining CRM configuration databases and documentation of assigned customer sites.

 

* Maintaining a Field Engineer checklist.

 

* Maintaining training documentation for Field Engineering.

 

* Assisting with training of new Field Engineers.

 

The IDEAL candidate will have:

 

* Three to five years experience with configuring and maintaining Cisco Routers and Switches.

* Cisco certification required (CCNA at a minimum, CCNP is preferred).

* Detailed, packet-level experience with TCP, IP, and UDP
 

* At least two years experience installing, administering and/or maintaining local area network, specifically in an Ethernet (10BaseT) environment on Windows NT or LAN Manager.

 

* At least two years experience supporting users and applications on DOS/Windows and/or Windows NT.

 

* Experience in the installation/support of wide area networking system and associated protocols.

 

* Knowledge of SS7.

 

* Telecom knowledge of analog trunks, T1, DS3, DACS and related hardware.

 

* Solid experience with testing equipment, i.e., T-Berd, Digismart, etc.

 

* Familiarity with LAN and data communication protocols such as TCP/IP, Netbios(Netbeui), IPX/SPX, Winsock, NCP/SMB, MNP, V.xx, PPP, SLIP, etc.

 

* Familiarity with contemporary programming languages/tools, such as Visual Basic and/or Visual C++.

 

* Experience installing and terminating twisted pair cabling, specifically Category 5 per specification.

 

* Radio knowledge a plus.

 

* AS/AA in Information Systems/Business, Computer Science, Engineering combined with MCE or CNE, desirable.
