The Electrical & Controls Technician will play a key role in providing a wide variety of skilled electrical/technical maintenance, repairs, calibrations and construction.  This position will perform tests on telecommunications, automation and measurement equipment. 


Accountabilities Include:

Determines need for, coordination and performance maintenance and repair of electrical, telecommunications, automation and/or measurement systems and equipment.
Coordinates and/or performs installation, testing, assembly, and/or turn up of new electrical, telecommunications, automation and/or measurement systems and equipment.
Oversees the calibration of complex electrical, telecommunications, automation and/or measurement systems and equipment to assure the safe operation of these systems to meet regulatory compliance and company standards.
Performs troubleshooting and analysis of systems to determine quality of operational location of problems.  Coordinates action when needed.
Prepares required records and documentation on a timely basis that meets regulatory compliance standards set forth by federal, state and local government agencies and company policies.
Designs and/or coordinates telecommunications, automation and/or measurement designs to provide safe and efficient pipeline operations.  This may include: concept, estimates, drawings, purchasing, installation, and final testing.
Trains other personnel in systems and maintenance operations.
Performs maintenance and or repair of switchgear, Motor Control Centers and associated equipment.
Builds and performs tests on prototype systems to determine operability and compatibility.  Evaluates new component equipment and/or systems as introduced by the equipment manufacturer.
Develops and/or evaluates calibration, start-up and operational procedures.
Conducts analyses to check accuracy, applicability and reasonableness of data and makes recommendations for corrective action.
Performs maintenance on test equipment and assuring test equipment has appropriate certifications.  Assures conformity with specifications using measuring instruments.
Plans, schedules and coordinates installation, testing and/or calibration with outside parties.
Maintains knowledge of National Electric Code, California Safety Orders and OSHA.
Performs MAXIMO based maintenance activities, including but not limited to preventive, repair, pro-active, technical support and compliance.


Required Qualifications:
To be considered for the role of Electrical & Controls Technician applicants must have:

A minimum of 5 years of well-rounded experience in all phases of Pipeline-Operations, Terminal Storage Facilities and associated operations.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Work experience and/or have the ability to interpret blueprints, electronic/electrical and mechanical schematics, one-line diagrams and P&ID's (Piping and Instrument Diagrams).
The ability to prepare and present oral/written reports and correspondence to appropriate personnel as required.
A minimum of 5 years of work experience in the Petrochemical industry.
A minimum of High School Diploma or GED.
The ability to work independently.
Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than your current employer.


Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to the required qualifications the successful candidate is likely to be able to demonstrate:

Qualification as Journeyman Electrician in California or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Vocational/Specialized Training (Maintenance Management, Basic Supervision, Communication training) or equivalent.
Fluency with the English language.
