Field Technician (CT 1-3)

1. Perform customer drop installations
2. Perform reconnects, requested and non-pay disconnects, additional outlets; install and remove set-top boxes in order to provide customer with upgrades or downgrades in service.
3. Perform service calls.
4. Perform signal leakage ride-outs.
5. Clean, maintain and stock vehicle and equipment
6. Inspect existing ground or make new ground according to the National Electrical Code (NEC)
7. Complete associated paperwork with each order.
8. Determine acceptability of video and data services.
9. Demonstrate professional conduct and appearance.
10. Provide the customer with materials regarding channel line up, use of converter and company policies as they relate to the customer as well as demonstrate these skills in order to educate the customer on the use of the equipment and company guidelines.
11. Provide information on available services to new and existing customers.
12. Pre-wire single homes and multiple dwelling units (MDUs)
13. Perform installation of the Comcast Online service.
14. Demonstrate online service and educate customer
Qualifications
Ability to use basic cable installation tools and hand tools
Ability to perform job from high places (on ladders and/or poles)
Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Transportation (DOT), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and various state and local codes including G.O. 95 and G.O. 128, (when applicable).
Ability to read general system layouts from blueprints
Knowledge of cable television products and services
Ability to comply with safety procedures and requirements
Knowledge of basic mathematics
Ability to count and handle U.S. currency
Ability to communicate with customers in a clear and straight forward manner
Ability to work independently
Ability to use basic cable test equipment
Ability to work on a computer
Knowledge of policies and procedures for installation activities
Basic knowledge of cable system operations
Knowledge of PC hardware, software and the internet
Knowledge of components on the PC desktop and ability to perform the following:
o Launch an application
o Add a shortcut
o Log into and navigate through a dial-up or other internet service
o Install software like Microsoft Internet Explorer, Netscape Communicator, Microsoft Windows, MS Office applications, educational software or games
o Navigate through a file system via the DOS prompt or window interface
o Access the Control Panel to configure components such as a printer, modem, and monitor
Training/Licenses/Certifications:
Valid drivers license and satisfactory driving record
High school diploma or equivalent
Work Environment/Physical Activities:
Climb poles and ladders 18 to 20 feet above ground, as determined by the system's requirements
Lift and carry loads of 70 lbs or more
Work in crawl spaces, attics and permit-required confined spaces
Work while standing 50 - 70% of the time
Perform work near power lines and electricity
Manipulate connectors, fasteners, wire; use hand tools
Drive company vehicle in a safe and responsible manner
Work and travel in inclement weather
Vision ability: close vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus
Normal work shift may include weekends; may include 10 hour days for 4 days a week
Must be available to work overtime including weekends, evenings and holidays
Ability to manipulate objects such as pens, keyboard and mouse
Exposure to moderate noise level
Exposure to dogs and other animals, construction areas, and the public in general
