JOB SUMMARY

Alabama Power Company is currently recruiting Plant Helpers at Barry Steam Plant. This is an entry-level position that requires heavy manual labor. Extensive training is offered to provide employees knowledge/skills required for advancement to Apprentice and Journeymen classifications. This position assists in the operation and maintenance of Alabama Power generating plants. Plant Helpers work rotating shifts and must be available for overtime and call out, especially during outages. The candidates we are seeking should have experience working in a physically demanding environment, have the ability to work with all types of tools, and is a winner looking to join a company with a winning culture and tradition!

JOB REQUIREMENTS

High School diploma with a two year technical degree (Industrial or Technical majors) preferred Two years manual labor, construction, maintenance or electrical experience working on heavy equipment is desired Able to work in confined spaces Able to perform physically demanding activities while working in all types of temperature extremes; job requires candidates to bend, kneel, crawl, stoop and stand for long periods of time Operate all equipment and hand tools as needed Work rotating shifts on a monthly basis (must be available for overtime, call out, weekends and holidays as required)

Requirements for employment as a PLANT HELPER include:

Must be at least 18 years of age Possess a valid drivers license Available to work overtime, call out, weekends and holidays as required Live within one hour of the plant due to call out

Pay for a PLANT HELPER position is based on an hourly rate with possible overtime pay.
