MAINTENANCE TECH I
Air Products & Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 company, has an immediate opening for an Instrumentation and Electrical Technician supporting our Los Angeles and Huntington Beach facilities. This position is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on instrumentation, electrical and mechanical equipment at the Los Angeles and Huntington Beach facilities.
The Southern California Epoxies group consists of two manufacturing facilities that are located in the City of Vernon (4 miles from downtown LA) and in Huntington Beach. The Los Angeles Epoxies plant produces and supplies over 150 different specialty Amine products, Epoxy hardeners, and related products. The manufacturing process is performed in 4 batch reactors that operate 24 hours a day. The Huntington Beach plant is a grinding facility that produces and supplies 15 different products. The plant has two mills that operate 1 shift per day, 5 days per week.
Roles and Responsibilties:
- Participate actively in department/plant safety programs. Promote safety rules and regulations
- Investigate equipment failures, determine root cause of failure, and recommend appropriate solutions to reduce reoccurrence of/or eliminate cause of failure.
- Recommend and specify alterations and revisions to improve equipment requirement and/or system reliability/capacity.
- Provide hands on support as required to resolve maintenance-related field problems as they occur.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and periodic review of preventative/predictive maintenance programs to reduce unplanned shutdowns and improve overall plant on stream capability.
- Keep abreast of and evaluate new methodologies, work practices, equipment, instrumentation, controls, technology, etc., for application and use within the plant.
- Participate in the planning and execution of minor and major shutdowns. Provide technical and hands on support as required during shutdowns.
- Maintain an error free execution. Pay very close attention to details and executes work to the highest possible standard. Apply a ?Continuous Improvement? philosophy to daily work.
Qualifications:
Four years minimum maintenance experience in a petrochemical or manufacturing environment. Two-year Associate degree in Electrical/Instrumentation discipline or High School diploma followed by apprenticeship training or Military experience relating to Electrical/Instrumentation. The successful applicant will also be expected to some experience on mechanical equipment.
