Title: Maintenance Engineer  (Plumbing Licensed)

 

Reports to: HVAC Supervisor

 

Location:   MassMutual Center ? Springfield, Massachusetts

 

Qualifications:

o Possession of Massachusetts Plumber Journeyman?s License

o Experience in the repair and maintenance of refrigeration and HVAC systems preferred

o Possession of Massachusetts HVAC license preferred

o Must be able to pull permits for facility plumbing maintenance and temporary water and drain installations from the City of Springfield

o Possession of EPA certification for handling and use of refrigerants preferred

o High School diploma or equivalent GED

o Working knowledge of PC based computer applications

o Hands-on experience working with electronic controls and computer-based energy management systems especially Johnson Controls experience preferred

o Ability to work effectively under pressure in meeting deadlines

o Ability to work with minimal supervision

o Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing

o Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, contractors and facility users

o Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, days, evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays, extended work days and extended number of consecutive days

o Ability and eagerness to work in a team-oriented maintenance department where daily work activities will include tasks both within and outside of specific trade disciplines

 

Knowledge of:

o Plumbing and HVAC codes pertaining to the maintenance and installation of plumbing and HVAC-R systems

o Proper use and maintenance of hand and power tools related to job functionsOperational characteristics, services and activities of HVAC-R maintenance programs

o Repair and maintenance in various other maintenance related functions including electrical, plumbing, painting, trades and grounds keepingRelevant federal, state, and local regulations Customer Service practices

Job Functions:

 

 

o Perform or supervise the performance of routine preventive and corrective maintenance of all plumbing systems

o Assist in the performance of routine preventive and corrective maintenance of HVAC and refrigeration systems including arena ice plant, chilled and hot water systems, AHU?s and small refrigeration equipmentAccurately maintain records of labor time, parts used, and work accomplished. Assist in the maintenance and repair of facility systems and equipment including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, chillers, refrigeration, boilers and associated equipment as well as general maintenance and upkeep activities Clean HVAC&R coils and duct work as required Install or supervise the installation of all temporary water and drain hookups in support of users of the facility Inspect and calibrate HVAC&R systems as needed. Inspects and measures building systems to determine proper airflow. Demonstrate attention to detail. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required in a team-oriented, can-do environment. 

o Perform duties and responsibilities with view toward Department goals and energy conservation

o Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, shop drawings, schematic manufacturer?s specifications and other reference materials to determine appropriate job requirements and procedures

o Prepare and submit requisitions for materials required to complete assigned tasks

o Plan work to ensure cost effective use of labor and materials

o As required, estimate materials needed and record time and materials expended on each work order

o Perform other general maintenance related tasks including plumbing, painting, trades and grounds keeping

o Operate equipment used in the maintenance of convention and arena facilities such as forklifts, high lifts, scissor lifts, and other maintenance equipment

o Establish and maintain cooperative-working relationships with those contacted in the course of work

o Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writingPerform other duties as required
