Maintenance Mechanic - HVAC

We are currently looking to fill the role of Maintenance Mechanic at our Berkeley site.  This position primarily performs repairs and modifications to plant facilities and equipment.  The Maintenance Mechanic will be required to use basic hand and machine tools including a variety of machinery from simple to complex nature, as well as maintenance materials such as wood, metals, plastics, paints, cleaners, cements and chemicals.  Additionally, the Maintenance Mechanic will have the following responsibilities/requirements:

 Understanding of mechanical equipment and piping. Read and understand blue prints and schematics. Works without supervision. Capable of training individuals in mechanical maintenance. Working knowledge of other trades and the ability to plan and schedule their work as part of the work order. Plan jobs and order material to complete job. Schedule date and time to complete job with operating departments. Perform plant start-up/projects. Possesses excellent skills in troubleshooting, the use of procedures, and a variety of test equipment.Must be able to interact with vendors and equipment manufacturers to gain their assistance in troubleshooting and ordering parts and equipment.

 

Position Minimum Requirements:

Physical Qualifications:

? Must be able to climb and work from ladders, have complete range of motion (ie. stoop, bend, squat, etc., and identify colors).

? Must be able to lift 75 lbs. including overhead, and maneuver up to 1200 lbs. on a wheeled cart. Extensive standing and walking.

? Must be able to read, write and speak English in order to understand written and oral instructions, warning signs, fill out log books and complete forms required to meet FDA documentation requirements, as well as communicate with other site personnel. Hearing impairment acceptable.

? Requires craft skills generally accepted as journey-man level in mechanical maintenance, working knowledge of at least one other craft, and works in a self-directed manner without supervision.

 

Preferences:HVAC certification and/or experiencePLC and calibration techniques
