POSITION TITLE: Maintenance Technician ? Elkwood VA

 

REPORTS TO: Plant Manager

 

POSITION SUMMARY: Duties include routine and emergency maintenance, troubleshoots plant machinery problems.  Completes paperwork and computer databases related to maintenance, machinery and replacement part order files.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

 

A.  General:

 

1.  Must know how to and be capable of safely operating all plant repair tools.

2.  Must be able to communicate process variables to shift supervisors

3.  Must be team oriented and able to interact with all levels of plant employees.

4.  Ability to work 40+ hours per week including weekends.

5.  Excellent skills in planning and organizing.  Housekeeping skills are essential.

6.  Must be able to develop and implement a preventative maintenance program throughout the plant.

 

B.  Intellectual: 

1.  Must have skills to troubleshoot electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical problems at the plant in a highly effective and timely manner. 

2.  Must be organized and able to keep accurate paperwork and computer databases. 

3.  Ability to work under pressure and guide the maintenance operations for a plant with varying hours of operation 

4.  Excellent problem solving skills ? ability to understand the complexity of the production process and operation.

5.  Good communications skills are essential.  Must be able to work with teams and alert plant manager to potential problems that could occur to machinery.  Should be able to support plant manager in the decision making processes on plant equipment.

 

C. Physical:

1.  Repeated lifting up to 75 lbs

2.  Frequent climbing of stairs and ladders up to 40 ft. high

3.  Be able to stand for approximately 75% of the work day

4.  Frequent squatting and kneeling

5.  Good manual dexterity with hands to pick up small parts, use hand tools, etc.

6.  Good visual acuity

 

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

A. Knowledge:Basic and advanced electrical, electronic troubleshootingBasic welding/cutting operationsBasic technical drawing and have the ability to read printsBasic mathematic knowledgeBasic computer skillsPLC experience including MICROLOGIX 1500 LRP SERIES C

 

B. Experience:Safe use and operation of hand/power toolsSafe use and operation of plant rolling stock including forklift and front end loaderWelding experience

 

C. Equipment used:  Variety of tools and test equipment including but not limited to calipers, manometers, multimeters and computers

 

D. Licenses/Certificates Required:Valid drivers licenseAbility to become certified as a forklift operator after attending a company sponsored training program.Must be able to be medically cleared by a physician to wear a respirator and pass a respirator fit test training offered by the company.

 

E.  Working Conditions: Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with a high level of dust (at times).  Also, must be able to work in confined spaces, elevated areas and a high ambient temperature environment, i.e.; no air conditioning
