Maryland/Virginia Field Service Engineer

The individual filling this job will be responsible for installations, training, method and application development, telephone and on-site diagnostics and repair services, performance maintenance visits to Thermo Electron?s customers and will also be responsible for effectively communicating competitive information and additional sales leads to the area Sales Representatives. The successful candidate must have proven ability to diagnose and resolve problems on sophisticated electronic, mechanical and optical instrumentation in a commercial scientific laboratory environment and have the ability to work independently, have effective communication skills and experience in the selling process.

This position requires a minimum of an Associates degree in Chemistry or Electronics and at least 2 years related experience. In addition, this position requires experience troubleshooting, installing, servicing, or operating  scientific instruments; experience as a former Field Service Engineer or Chemist working on HPLC or Mass Spectrometers (Quantum) is a plus. This position requires extensive customer interaction; therefore strong interpersonal skills are required. This position will require travel in order to meet customer needs; the territory primarily covered includes Virginia and Maryland.
