Journeyman Mechanic in Power Generation

Job Requirements

Minimum (3) years experience in the maintenance of power plant boilers, ash systems, steam & gas turbines, generators and auxiliary equipment which includes experience in welding, rotating equipment, pumps, hydraulics, conveyors, piping, mills, intake structures, equipment coupling alignment and combustion turbines: as well as knowledge in the use of all types of precision measurement tools such as micrometers and calipers. Fundamental shop math knowledge required. Experience should include shop and field overhauls, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance. Uses hand and portable power tools as well as sets up and operates shop equipment, working with close tolerances. Experienced in related equipment needed to troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions and determine needed repairs. Ability to determine the needed parts and material as well as make necessary repairs. Performs clean-up and proper housekeeping of the assigned work area. Ability to work shift schedules including weekends and nights as scheduled.

Job Knowledge

Must have the ability to read and understand plant equipment/system prints and drawings as well as read and understand technical literature. Must have skills to operate power tools and various hand tools in a safe and efficient manner. Ability to follow and perform preventive maintenance procedures, strategies and interpret technical manuals. Basic computer skills are necessary. Good verbal and written communications skills.
