OPTICIAN

Smiths Detection, a world leader in the design, manufacture and deployment of trace detection technologies and biological/chemical detection security systems, has a key opportunity available for an Optician to join our team at our MILFORD,CT location.  This is a temporary to possible permanent position based on performance.

In this position the selected candidate will perform general maintenance of optical grinding and polishing equipment.  Must be familiar with use, care and set up of test equipment.  Fabricate optical components from prints, determining tooling required.  Directly responsible for quality of component to print.  Provide incoming QC of raw material.  In general, the right candidate will be responsible for the fabrication of lens, mirrors and windows.

This position requires a High School diploma, and 3-5 years on job training or machining background.  Good oral and written communication skills required.
