Repairman

Job Description

Major Responsibilities:

1. Design and layout of projects
2. Fabrication and repair of equipment used in mining and/or processing operations
3. Support of production crews and repair personnel with welding operations
4. Work in a manner that is consistent with Phelps Dodge policies.
5. Perform all work in a safe manner

Minimum Requirements:

-Completion of an approved apprenticeship/ internship or 4 years experience in the field or the equivalent in a combination of education and experience
-Must be able to read and comprehend written instructions and procedures
-Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills
-Must pass a site administered welding competency test
-Layout skills, basic structural frames utilizing blue prints or as built design. Must be able to read drawings and be able to fabricate form field measurements.
-Basic use of shop equipment, large and small rolls, breaks, shears and buffalo punch.
-Basic use of all cutting equipment.
-Basic ability to identify and weld all alloy steel.
-Able to work with a minimum of supervision
- Demonstrated effective written, verbal, and communication skills
- Basic computer skills.
- Skills in cutting and welding techniques using various machines
- Complete knowledge of proper rigging.
- Work all shifts and overtime in all types of weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Operation of overhead cranes
2. Operation of mobile lifting equipment.
