Residential Energy Tech

DESCRIPTION North Austin facility has full-time opportunities for thermostat installation technicians. The Field Installation Technician's primary objective is to install special programmable thermostats in residential & small commercial locations within Austin Energy's service territory as part of the Power Partner program.

PRIMARY DUTIES
Training will be provided however, Installation Technicians must be able to perform primary duties as follows, but not limited to:
- Conduct basic operational checks on customer's HVAC system (conventional, heat pumps, two speed units) before and after t-stat installation.
- Install and program the thermostat.
- Conduct minor troubleshooting procedures as needed
- Provide customers with basic thermostat training and respond to frequently asked questions.
- Accurately collect customer and system data and document each installation in writing.

QUALIFICATIONS
- High School graduate, or GED.
- HVAC Certificate + field service experience with residential & small commercial systems required.
- Experience with heat pumps, two speed units, and low voltage wiring and control is strongly desired.
- Must have the basic knowledge working around (not with) high voltage.
- Must know how to operate and reading a voltage test meter.
- Must have valid Driver's License with clean driving record and a reliable, insured vehicle (reimbursement for mileage will be provided).
- Must be detail oriented, have good written and verbal skills and a neat/clean appearance.

- Must be quality oriented.
- Must have the ability to use assigned tools properly and work within safety guidelines
