Safety Technician

Job Responsibilities : * Maintains documentation, records, and files required by the CCI Injury and Illness Prevention Plan, and Cal/OSHA regulations.
* Maintains documentation and records concerning Hazardous Waste disposal in accordance with all California EPA and Federal EPA regulations.
* Maintains MSDS documentation in accordance with all applicable regulations.
* Participates in the CCI Safety Inspection program; conducts inspections, maintains records of inspections and maintains the CCI Safety Improvement Plan.
* Maintains necessary records pertaining to Safety.
* Coordinates translation of Safety Training materials into Spanish and/or other languages.
* Monitor status of Material Handling programs, with particular emphasis on inspection periodicity and certification of operators and equipment.
* Assists in maintaining the Hazardous Material Management Plan (HMMP) and Emergency Action Plan (EAP), including maintenance of adequate emergency supplies, updating the HMMP/EAP when directed, and exercising the Emergency Evacuation Plan.
* Participates in the Safety Committee, prepares monthly meeting agendas with input from Safety Committee member, and prepares minutes of committee meetings.
* Participates in Cal/OSHA, OC Fire Authority, OC Health Care Agency, and other governmental inspections, recording findings and notifying appropriate managers of necessary corrective action(s) required; tracks corrective actions, notifying Safety and Environmental Compliance Supervisor of items that cannot be corrected quickly; prepares responses to the appropriate governmental agencies.
* Maintains records of worker injuries, assists in accident investigations as needed, notifies the Safety & Environmental Compliance Supervisor and shop managers of recognized hazards, and proposes corrective actions to hazardous conditions.
* Maintains working knowledge of new developments in the industry and government regulations.
* Acts as the company representative if the Safety & Environmental Compliance Supervisor is unavailable.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements:

* Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combinations of education or experience.
* Excellent communication and computer skills.
* Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer.
