Service Engineer - On-Site

Leybold Vacuum USA Inc. has an excellent opportunity located in Austin, TX, for an experienced On-site Service Engineer.  The individual will be responsible for organization and implementation of on-site customer maintenance, trouble shooting, repair of vacuum products and supporting new product qualifications and installations. 

 

Qualified candidates must possess:

? A.S. degree or five (5) years of demonstrated mechanical ability.  Individuals with vacuum technology or previous field service experience are a plus.  (e.g., turbopumps, dry pumps, booster pumps, vane pumps and cryo pumps)

? Working knowledge of electronics, electrical systems and mechanical aptitude

? Strong written and oral communication skills

? Basic computer skills and working knowledge of personal computer environments (i.e. Microsoft office, etc.)

? Works independently with minimal supervision

? Demonstrated sense of urgency to respond to customer requirements

? Good customer presence & interpersonal skills

? Safety conscious

? Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

? Valid driver?s license required

 

 

Current responsibilities include:

? Ensure uninterrupted operation of customer?s vacuum products through preventive maintenance, timely response and problem resolution

? Evaluate, organize, maintain and repair products locally as appropriate

? Investigate and resolve Discrepant Material Reports (DMR).  Support proactive corrective action to ensure achievement of Quality Parts per Million goals (QPPM)

? Identify opportunities for expanding Leybold influence at assigned customer(s) through value adding services  Implement and manage such activities.  Example: Service contract

? Provide technical advice, assistance and product training with exceptional response time

? In conjunction with sales, identify customer requirements and participate in strategic customer development

? Assist with new product introduction and launch.  Implement beta-site product installations

? Maintain historical log of all activities related to pump maintenance by individual pump

? Helps develop and train additional on-site service staff

? On call response to customer ?off hours? service needs

? Warranty determination of locally repaired products
