Service Manager/Supervising Electronic Technician

Our Service Manger is moving out of state.  We are a retailer of scales and have been in business for over 80 years.  We have five technicians who perform field and bench repair/calibration of electronic and mechanical scales and weighing systems reporting to this position.  In many ways, our Service Manager is truly an Operations Manager.  The position deals with our customer's requirements, schedules our technician's work in the field, orders parts, supervises ongoing shop repairs, shipping and receiving, assists in the showroom with selling and whatever else it takes to keep the service department running smoothly.  Experience in the following is desirable and/or required:  Supervision, accounting/business, electronics, purchasing, selling and computer skills.  The ability to multi-task is essential, as are good customer service skills.  Because you will spend much of your time representing San Diego Scale with our customers, you MUST possess good interpersonal and customer relations skills.  That is an absolute requirement.  Experience with Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, QuickBooks, scheduling/dispatch, typing, handling multiple phone lines in a personable fashion, conflict resolution, stressful situations and changing schedules are all valuable.  We understand that most candidates will not have direct knowledge of scale repair, but that can be learned.  One of our best service managers ran a fashion retail business in a major mall, and the one currently being replaced scheduled maintenance for a group of submarines while in the navy.  Intelligence, personality and the desire/ability to manage a team is what we are looking for.  We seek a long-term employee, and historically have experienced very low turnover.  Retired military with an electronics rating/supervisory experience as an alternative to work experience in industry is fine with us.  Competitive salary and medical insurance, provided.
