Support Engineer

As a Global Network Support Engineer you will work within the Secure Router Global Network Product Support team. You will provide escalation support for customers, distributors and various organizations within Nortel (Premium, Sales, first level support, as well as development and sustaining engineering) to resolve network issues and improve quality for Nortel Secure Router products.

The ideal candidate would need to be able to work independently, and have the ability to replicate hardware, software and network related problems and present them to development and sustaining engineering as required.

The right candidate must have the ability to prioritize work, manage multiple projects at the same time and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Knowledge and experience regarding the design, configuring and troubleshooting in the following areas is mandatory:

Layer 1 (T1/E1, T3/CT3, 10/100/1000 ethernet)
Layer 2 (PPP/MLPPP, Frame Relay, Ethernet, VLAN(802.1Q)
Layer 3 (IP Routing)


Knowledge and experience regarding the following is a plus:

Firewall
VPN/GRE/IPSEC
802.1Q/P
Dynamic routing protocols (RIP, OSPF, BGP)
Redundancy Protocols (VRRP,HSRP, ESRP)
MPLS
Application Layer Gateway

Minimum 3-5 years experience
BSCS or BSEE is a plus.
