UTILITY MECHANIC II

 

Loyola Marymount University?s Department of Facilities Management has an opening for a Utility Mechanic II. This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all boilers, furnaces, air conditioners, pumps, control systems, distribution systems and mechanical equipment so as to ensure efficient and effective use of the University controlled utilities and ensure that health code standards are met. 

 

Primary responsibilities include performing preventative maintenance on all campus equipment, boilers and air conditioning systems. Repair of all heating, air conditioning and mechanical equipment, including but not limited to pumps, boiler tubes, fire boxes, electric and pneumatic control systems.  Maintain campus hydraulic systems; including but not limited to swimming pools, heat regulation, chemical analysis and water treatment to meet health code standards.  Maintain tools and equipment properly. Observe industrial and personal safety practices.  Maintain daily journal of activities to support trade objectives and advancement requirements.  Perform an assigned watch on regular or rotating shifts of eight hours a day as needed.   Incumbent will also assist in ordering office supplies.

We seek candidates who have graduated from high school and have completed job related courses at an accredited trade school.  Entry level position with minimum two years hands on mechanical experience.  Knowledge of the all equipment to be maintained.  Understanding in repair of mechanical, electrical equipment including training in swimming pool maintenance.  Standard practices, processes, materials and hand and power tools.  Knowledge of blueprint reading and shop mathematics.  Candidates should also be able to meet physical demands such as stooping, crawling, lifting, climbing and working in other awkward positions. In addition incumbents must have a current California class ?C? driver license.
