The Business Analyst will be responsible for all process / business flow / technology interpretation tasks associated with key underwriting initiatives.  This individual will work with both the project leads/BUTL in assessing how to translate a business need into a solution having both a process and technology component.  This role would also require significant interactions with ACE operations, business unit owners, infrastructure, vendors and project owners.

 

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The job will entail Brio Administration support (20-30%) and Application development (70-80%).

 

In general, the Admin support will consist of the following:

? Monthly move ups of MDDB models and the managed query and reporting (DSS)

? Production support of daily and monthly interfaces

? This position will encompass the key business design, process integration and ongoing business support required in integrating a technology solution as part of a business initiative.  Duties include the following:

? Support the needs of the Business Unit owners.

? Convert business needs into both process flows and technology solutions.

? Ongoing business support of production applications.

? Day-to-day interaction with the Underwriting Organization.

? Documenting business requirements.

? Some oversight of development initiatives.

? Training, day-to-day support of underwriting questions

 

 

SCOPE

 

ACE System has been slated with the tasks of building a set of underwriting solution to assist in all aspects of the underwriting process.  In addition to underwriting systems for internal solutions need to be designed to be used directly by the broker community.  The scope of these projects will be leveraged all organization under ACE Limited.  These projects are of the highest priority by ACE Senior Management.

 

? Daily maintenance of BI products including data related problems

? Short range and Long range planning and delivery including optimization and fine tuning

? Software Upgrades and Conversions

? Application distribution (installs) and user access

? Creation and enforcement of policies, standards and procedures

? Production environment support

? Development environment support

? Change Management and Naming conventions

 

In general Applications Development will consist of the following: 

? Requirements gathering

? Brio Data Model design and Development

? Query Design and development

? EIS front-end design and development (JAVA Programming for EIS)

? SQR programming 

? SQL programming

 

SCOPE

The position will be part of the ACE USA Operations and MIS Business Unit.  This role will have a reporting relationship to several IT Owners.  The intent is for this individual to take on multiple projects in 2005 but most of the priority in 2004 is in support of the TRACKER application.

 

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications.

? Strong project management skills.

? Solid technical background

? Strong insurance background.

? Solid operations background.

? Solid financial analyst background.

? 5 plus years insurance experience with a major carrier.

? Skills in web-based applications.

? Strong interpersonal skills.

? Ability to work with both internal and consulting resources.

? Ability to work with all levels of management.

? Strong communications skills

? Undergraduate Degree in Information Technology or equivalent work experience.

? Expert knowledge of Brio Software and SQL.

? Working knowledge of SQR software. 

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Knowledge of Property & Casualty Insurance business.  Knowledge of Oracle and MS SQLServer. The following qualification would make the candidate more desirable for the position:

? A working knowledge of the core insurance functions.

? Previous financial analyst background with a ?like? carrier.

? Previous operations background.

? Previous background working on projects with business/technical components.
