Accident, Benefit & Life Underwriter

Position Responsibilities

As an Accident Underwriter, you are accountable for:

Managing a $5,000,000 book of accident business.
Achieving profitable growth for the Group Benefit Zone.
Accountable for achievement of customer group, branch and corporate goals relating to profit, growth, retention, service and producer relations.
Acting as a contact with account executives to build, maintain and manage customer/producer relationships (including regular agency visits based on business need).
Identifying opportunities for growth within new and existing production sources.
Predominately responsible for Underwriting new and renewal business risk, risk selection and analysis (including documentation), and pricing of Accident & Health products and services for new business.
Meeting with new and renewal customers to solicit new business and make sales presentations. Negotiate coverage?s, price, financial terms and service delivery, as necessary.
Working in a team environment with Underwriters, Account Executives, Compliance, Information Technology and Operations.
Responsible for meeting service standards of a customer focused strategy.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

Solid knowledge of Group and Individual Accident underwriting including Travel, Voluntary, Carve ?out, theories and practices.
Demonstrated technical expertise and product specific knowledge.
Proven, successful, sales skills
Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external business partners.
Experience developing marketing plans and handling complex accounts
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as Excel, Word and Access.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor?s degree or equivalent experience
Minimum three to five years of underwriting experience
