Actuarial Analyst - Colorado 53710

PURPOSE Assist actuarial services department to develop best-practice actuarial models and promote their implementation Program-wide. Support actuarial analysis in fee schedule development and provider contracting. Fee schedules are the prices for services by KP providers (professional and facility services). Build models that support decision-making, including the creation of parameters that can be varied to show the impact on key metrics of variances in key assumptions. Extract data from KP systems to feed models. Evaluate gaps in data and quantify their impact on results.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Develops actuarial assumptions used for modeling utilization, cost and revenue trends.

2. Develops actuarial assumptions used in development of monthly claims liability estimates.

3. Provide data analytic expertise to support Actuarial Services.

4. Provides actuarial representation in systems development.

5. Develops and implements rating tools (spreadsheets, models, databases, etc.) to be used by Underwriters for various product lines.

6. Apply actuarial principles to assist in product development and improvement.

7. Assists in presenting study findings to management.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelors degree in actuarial science, mathematics, finance, economics, or equivalent

1. One year of relevant data analytic experience including academic course-work.

2. Actively pursuing the Society of Actuaries or Casualty Actuarial Society examination syllabus.

3. One year of relevant database construction, spreadsheet development and/or programming experience.

This position consistently supports compliance and the Principles of Responsibility (Kaiser Permanentes Code of Conduct) by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licensure requirements (if applicable), and Kaiser Permanentes policies and procedures.
