The Actuarial Student is responsible for assisting in the determination of rates; analyzes develops and validates statistical data.


 


Essential duties to include, but are not limited to:

Under limited supervision, applies the appropriate actuarial analytical tools to the data and performs preliminary actuarial and statistical analysis.
Updates actuarial pricing, valuation and forecasting models as directed.
Refines and collects appropriate data for actuarial analysis and ensures its reasonableness and accuracy by coordination within the division.
Performs other duties as assigned.



The ideal candidate will have:

Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Typically has passed at least one or two actuarial exam.
Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong PC skills and good problem-solving skills.
Skilled with Microsoft software such as Excel, Access, Visual Basic and Word.
Knowledge of actuarial and statistical modeling techniques used in projection of premium claims and enrollment.
Knowledge of insurance company operations as they relate to administration of premiums and claims.
Ability to determine accuracy of data and reasonableness of results and identify and resolve errors.
Ability to suggest creative methods to enhance the effectiveness of processes and procedures.
