Actuary

Louisiana Workers' Compensation Corporation (LWCC), the largest workers' compensation carrier in Louisiana is searching for an Actuary in its Baton Rouge office. This position works closely with executive management and the Board of Directors.


This position produces actuarial studies, data reports, analysis and recommendations The Actuary, working with qualified independent actuarial consultants is responsible for forecasting and maintaining adequate reserve levels (in particular for losses and loss adjustment expenses), promulgating sound rates and rating plan factors that fit the business needs of the corporation, monitoring and analyzing the various components driving rate level needs, reviewing the financial impact and the pricing of reinsurance transactions (treaties, commutations, etc.), developing/maintaining dividend and CPI plans and factors, providing actuarially related support in regards to obtaining appropriately high ratings from financial rating organizations (Best?s S&P, etc.), analyzing the risk based capital needs of the corporation, providing both static (scenario driven) and dynamic (through simulation modeling) financial analyses of the future of the corporation, estimating the actuarial/financial value of acquisitions, and providing miscellaneous statistical, financial, and actuarial studies as needed.

Education & Experience Requirements:
? Bachelor?s degree in Mathematics, Statistics or Actuarial Science
? At least 10 years experience in the property/casualty actuarial field
? Must have strong PC skills including databases and spreadsheets
? Must have at least a minimum of an ACAS certification
? Knowledge of SQL and Business Objects are a plus
