Assistant Corporate Controller- Vice President

We are recruiters that specialize in the placement of Insurance and Reinsurance professionals. Our client is a well known and successful Life Insurance Company located in New York City. We are currently working together to identify talented individuals for an Assistant Corporate Controllers position.

The role of the Assistant Corporate Controller will be a key financial resource throughout the organization to lead projects, initiatives, provide leadership, and will play a key role in the implementation of Sarbanes-Oxley and strengthening the control environment. The Assistant Corporate Controller will manage a staff of roughly thirty people that will include Investments Accounting, General Ledger Accounting, Business Support, and Management Reporting and Analysis.

Accountabilities will include:

-Being key support role to the Profit Center financial teams in resolving accounting problems, implementation of new pronouncements,? and new products.

-Oversight of the company-wide closing process for General Ledger, Investment, Reporting and Business Support divisions.

-Assuring timely and accurate preparation of GAAP, Statutory, Board and Rating Agency financial information.

-Serving as corporate wide lead coordinator for external audit, internal audit and state audits.

Qualified candidates for this position must have a minimum of ten years of experience in Life, or Property and Casualty Insurance with a proven track record of management. CPA designation is preferred. Bachelors Degree in Accounting is required. Must have strong leadership and relationship skills as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong knowledge of GAAP and Statutory accounting principles required. Proven knowledge of Investments and Investment Accounting also required.
