*** Associate Field Representative ***

For over 85 years, the Workers' Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau (WCIRB) has been the premier provider of statistical data for insurers, agents and brokers, regulators, employers and others within the insurance community and has served as the designated statistical agent of the insurance commissioner for over half a century.



During the first few months, the Associate Field Representative participates in a comprehensive training program consisting of formal class training and one-on-one field training sessions. Concurrent with training, the Associate Field Representative will be assigned specific tasks including conducting on-site inspections, claims audits and test audits where speed and accuracy are required. After several months of training, the Associate Field Representative will need to demonstrate ability to work independently with very little supervision.



Training Period:

During the training period the Associate Field Representative must satisfactorily complete the following designated training modules:



- A general course in workers' compensation insurance through the Insurance Education Association, or

- A home study or classroom course in payroll auditing.



In addition, the Associate Field Representative will receive in-house or field instruction in a number of subject matters and must demonstrate mastery in each area:



- Conducting on-site inspections, test audits and claims auditing.

- Preparing reports of inspections and test audits.

- Using PC software applications.

- Cross training in other WCIRB departments, as assigned by Team Leader.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

As the Associate Field Representative is trained, he or she will be given field assignments commensurate with ability, comprehension and level of training.

- Interviews employers and inspects their premises to obtain data needed to properly classify their business operation.

- Prepares, proofs and submits reports describing the employer's business which classifies the operation.

- Examines insurers' payroll audits to verify the proper reporting of exposure for unit statistical purposes.

- Conducts claims audits to verify the classification assignment by insurers on reported claims.

- Prepares, proofs and submits the results of test audits and claims audits.

- Prepares general correspondence.
