About the Opportunity
Auto Claims Service Representative - Richmond, VA
It is the responsibility of this position to investigate, negotiate and conclude by settlement or denial small First Party or clear liability Third Party claims through telephone contact. The individual in this position will also ensure claims are processed within company policies, procedures, and individual's prescribed authority with exceptional standards of performance. Exceptional customer service and ease of doing business with Selective with one phone call will be the primary focus of the position. This position is based at our Claims Service Center located in Richmond, VA.
Some essential duties of the positions are as follows:Take new loss reports from customers via telephone. Verify/analyze coverage and determines course of action. Establish initial reserves and input claim on mobile claims system while speaking to customer; provide a claim number during call. Direct customer to access program, approved car rental vendor and/or process immediate removal of total loss to salvage yard. Assign claims to appropriate CMS when outside scope of Claims Service Center. Investigate claims through telephone contact with customers. Handle incoming calls and correspondence from Insureds, Claimants and Agents regarding questions or problems associated with claims. Analyze information obtained through investigation in order to evaluate assigned claims to determine the extent of loss and liability. Obtain appropriate adjuster?s license in jurisdictions when required. Document claims files and maintain control of work through documentation or diary system. Update MCS on a continual basis to accurately reflect status of each assigned file. Aggressively manages car rental expenses. Receive and approve expenses incurred to investigate, process and handle a claim. Prepare check requisitions for all loss and expense payments. Explore salvage and subrogation potential on all claims. Close claim by issuing check or denial. Ensure compliance with company, state and federal regulations including all applicable unfair Claims practices in various jurisdictions.
To be successful in this position the following qualifications are required: High School degree. Adjuster?s License must be obtained within the first six months of employment.
Also preferred are the following:College degree. 1-2 years of Claims Experience. 1-2 years of Adjuster Experience. 1 year of Data Entry Experience.
