Business Developer

The role of Business Developer is to market to our agents, produce and select profitable Property and Inland Marine business in accordance with Company objectives and policies.

Develops marketing plans for assigned territory, including analysis of market(s). Exercises appropriate agency management techniques that will enhance the Company"&tm;s position in the agency plant. These techniques may include, but are not limited to, agency visits, new agency appointments, and appropriate planning and monitoring of agency activity. Develops new business and insurance programs (including complex coverages) compatible with production goals and assists in maintaining renewal business. Selects, underwrites and prices risks within delegated underwriting authority. Identifies changes in both the local and national marketplace, and establishes a plan to react appropriately to the market. Meets or exceeds service standards in the areas of new business, renewals and endorsements. Develops and prepares management reports as required. Exercises appropriate control over expenses such as commissions and travel. Manages assigned employees. Maintains proper personnel practices including hiring, performance evaluation, salary administration, promotion, transfer and termination. Trains and develops less experienced staff members. Will work from home and travel on a regular basis throughout Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee. Performs other duties as directed.

Required Skills:
Must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work/business experience. Must have 6-8 years Commercial Inland Marine and/or equivalent Property Insurance underwriting and marketing skills. AMIM and/or CPCU designations are preferred.
