Business Systems Analyst

Summary

Contributes to the operational excellence of the organization by providing business application expertise during the analysis, design, construction and testing phases of a system development life cycle.  Must be willing and able to travel.

Essential Job Functions

Utilizes an in-depth comprehension of technological business requirements and the data processes used to support these requirements to conduct data analysis and research studies; creates and publishes reports on findings using a variety of business intelligence tools. Contributes to the development of data and process models. Evaluates business needs to identify pertinent business data technology and reporting solutions. Makes recommendations to improve the effectiveness of the reporting process and associated business intelligence tools. Defines technology solutions, and evaluates the costs and benefits of proposed solutions.
Assists in the planning, testing, and implementation of new applications, systems, or procedures. Prepares analysis, design, and construction documentation. Aids applications developers and systems programmers in running jobs to test programs and debug problems. Participates in the creation of user training materials.
Consults on cross-functional projects, including but not limited to new technology product introductions and systems implementation. Performs a liaison role by assisting other development groups with business requirements, and provides suggestions for various solutions. Provides technical support to business units and personnel on existing and new systems as well as system enhancements.
Maintains working knowledge of departmental procedures. Is familiar with the complexities of the business systems and all related technology; possesses a proficient understanding of source data, data architecture, and the data reporting process. Acquires and maintains current knowledge of product/service offerings and support policies to assist in providing technical solutions.
Continues to build personal skill set by participating in in-house or outside insurance / industry related courses / seminars as deemed necessary to expand product / system knowledge.
Perform other duties as assigned. Partial relocation is offered to qualified candidates.

Education Requirements

Four-year college degree. Completion of Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification preferred.

Experience Requirements

Four years with Farmers Insurance Group, including experience in the operation of assigned subject area. At least two years of experience in a salary grade 32 or above.
