Under direct supervision, codes premium and claims for WC, BUA, GL and Reinsurance for Chicago processing center to ensure prompt and accurate coding of premium and timely processing to receivable systems. Additionally, performs stat coding of claim data; facultative and captive reinsurance and setups for code library.


 


Performs a combination of the following duties according to departmental guidelines:


1. Reviews coding task sheet for accuracy and completeness.


2. Pulls coding files and prepares coding abstract and information management system (IMS) forms.


3. Inputs required data on information management system and prepares coding abstract for keypunching.


4. Reviews designated reports for possible errors and makes corrections.


5. May process claim data from Notice of Loss Processing Bulletin (NOLPB) either manually or online depending on the line of business.


6. May prepare claim coding abstract for processing with third party vendor. Verifies that loss information meets coverage criteria.


7. May review pre-program suspense reports. Processes items which have been cleared or corrected.


8. May review daily reports and edit reports for possible errors.

1. Performs special projects as required.


 


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


1. Basic understanding of insurance products and services.


2. Basic understanding of insurance information system being used, data entry and codes.


3. Good attention to detail.


4. Good communication skills.


5. Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software systems.


 


Education and Experience:


1. High School or equivalent with one year formal training.


2. Minimum of three to four months work experience.
