Claim Representative- Commercial Auto Liability

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

?  Set up new claims in the claim system, and proceed with contact and full investigation, through final resolution

?  Review and analyze Commercial Auto first and third party coverages that apply to the claim

?  Investigate liability and damages on first and third party injury and physical damage claims, including high exposure and complex cases

?  Properly evaluate both reserve and settlement value of claims

?  Determine and execute proper disposition plans on all claims, negotiating claims to a conclusion to minimize litigation where appropriate.

?  Control expenses such as independent adjuster and defense costs

?  Provide excellent customer service to both Partner Agents, insureds and claimants

?  Work closely with Corporate Claims in the investigation, analysis and settlement of complex and high exposure claims.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

?  Education

o Bachelors Degree preferred, but will consider equivalent experience with a Commercial Property/Casualty insurance company.

 

?  Experience

o Minimum of 1-3 years Casualty or Auto claims handling experience is required.

o Experience handling litigated claims and coverage issues is required. 

o Experience with Commercial Auto or Truckers policy forms preferred.

o Inland Marine and/or Property claims experience a plus 

 

?  Skills

o Able to analyze coverage issues, as well as prepare Reservation of Rights letters and disclaimers

o Ability to work in a team environment

o Plan and execute investigations - Decisive

o Excellent verbal and written skills are necessary

o Strong attention to detail

o Basic keyboard and  Microsoft Office products knowledge (i.e. Excel, Word)

o Experience partnering with policyholders and defense counsel in litigation

o Experience with Alternative Dispute Resolution and structured settlements

o Occasional bending, reaching, and light physical effort (under 10 pounds) required.
