Claim Specialist/Sr Claim Specialist

Investigate claims, evaluate coverage, determine, verify, evaluate, and control damages, injuries and expenses. Monitor, control, and negotiate claim settlements with insureds, claimants, and attorneys. Manage all aspects of litigation. Investigate and evaluate recovery potential. Document and maintain all systems and manual records necessary for proper claim handling control. Investigate, clarify, and update claims department on state laws and statutes.
Communicate with internal and external customers, including, but not limited to, independent adjusters, insureds, claimants, attorneys, agents, and administrators. Participate in ongoing training and education of staff.

Participate in self-study or formal classes to continue self-improvement, including AIC and/or CPCU if designation(s) not already attained. Attend training conferences and seminars, as directed.

Required Skills:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree or 4 years equivalent work experience.

Claim Specialist - a minimum of 4-6 years claims adjusting experience required, experience handling litigated files strongly preferred, outside adjusting experience, AIC and/or CPCU designation is a plus.

A thorough knowledge of insurance coverages, investigative techniques, and claim adjustment procedures. Excellent oral and written communication skills, and proficiency in Word and Excel.
