Claims Adjuster
J. Fletcher Creamer & Son, Inc is a full service, multifaceted contracting company serving the business community, governmental agencies, and utilities throughout the United States for over 84 years. We are currently recruiting a Claims Adjuster to manage our deductible/loss sensitive commercial lines of insurance coverage. Candidate will lead the claims/safety department, manage the Company's claim handling procedures, settle/litigate appropriate claims, interface with insurance carriers, and oversee Company's risk transfer mechanisms.
Job Qualifications:Minimum of 10-15 claims handling and litigation experience for major carrier(s) Construction industry experience/background Self-starter with proven experience with insurance claims including PI,G/L,and W/C PC literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office and claim management software Well organized with good analytical and excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to work in a team environment Ability to budget cost and calculate exposure Demonstrated case analysis ability and proven track record of trial and settlement results
Management Responsibilities:Be accountable for business results through cost effective and timely resolution of claims Manage activities of staff and participate in development of claims training, policies, and procedures Manage all investigations and work with Insurance Committee to determine if claims should be settled, litigated or referred to carrier and prepare and present biweekly reports to Insurance Committee Manage claims including setting reserves and authorizing settlements within assigned limits of authority Manage project teams and be responsible for special projects and presentations Direct communications with appropriate parties regarding handling and disposition of claims Assist in developing and maintaining relationships with insurance brokers and carriers and assist in the review and placement of insurance coverage Manage all insurance records including policies,certificates, endorsements, invoices, reports, etc Manage and maintain incident and claim data to provide trends and historical data Analyze billing and fees for reporting on claim management and billing practices for reasonableness and compliance with company guidelines Oversee and direct all OSHA, Injury, Illness, and DOT reporting Coordinate Safety personnel and outside entities to investigate claims Coordinate, recommend, and implement initiatives as they relate to claim avoidance Review and establish risk transfer protocols throughout the Creamer Companies
Legal and Claim Handling Responsibilities:Responsible for investigation and reporting on all assigned claims within the Creamer Companies Evaluate all assigned claims concerning coverage, loss, liability, exposure, compensable and reserves Direct, control, and dispose of assigned claims within the guidelines and procedural policies established by the Insurance Committee and management Pursue swift, fair, and equitable resolution of claims within assigned limits of authority Direct and coordinate timely and efficient investigation and litigation management Timely reporting to Insurance Committee concerning claim exposure above designated reserve authority Maintain a systematic diary process on all assigned claims with the status and the activity required Report on anticipated exposure and obtain authority to settle claims above authorized settlement authority Comply with all time frames for reporting and follow-up information and advise Insurance Committee of court dates and related proceedings in advance Conduct examination of legal and claim records and consult with witnesses, insured, legal assistants, and claim personnel in pre-trial preparations and conduct post-trial or settlement activities where appropriate Represent the Company in all phases of litigation and provide representation for the Company and its employees in court, arbitration, or administrative proceedings and advise company employees in their handling of claims
