Claims Assistant

WHC, a leading regional property and casualty broker is Northern New Jersey is looking for a claims assistant for their Montclair office.  Reporting to the Director of Claims Management, this person will perform the following functions:

Verify/analyze coverage in consultation with Director of Claims Management.
Manage claim activity through standard claims practices, such as verification of coverage, analysis, settlement negotiation and litigation support.
Advise a group of Transactional Assistants, whose job requires the input of claims information into our claims management system and to conduct timely status inquiries on reported claims.
Promote a positive relationship for WHC & Co. through superior customer relations.
Act a liaison with claims attorneys, claims adjusters and other vendors to ensure effective claims resolution.
Perform administrative and technical tasks related to support of the Company?s claims operations.
Provide guidance and assistance to less experienced staff.
Undertake claims projects and other essential duties as assigned.

 

 


The qualified candidate will have:


A broad Property and Casualty knowledge, including General Liability and Auto Liability, with a minimum of 3 years claims handling experience. 
Advanced technical and insurance expertise, including knowledge of insurance and claims principles, best practices and claims resolution skill.
Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
The ability to successfully interact with internal and external business partners.
The ability to manage and prioritize projects.
A positive and approachable attitude and one that can work effectively with diverse personalities.
A proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software to maximize productivity.
