Claims Assistant I - Glendale

Under general supervision, performs diverse clerical duties requiring thorough knowledge and understanding of all applicable procedures and policies. Tasks require judgment and initiative.


 





JOB SPECIFICS:


 





1.  Responsible for assisting examiners and management of assigned caseload by performing clerical functions according to the Guidelines of Published Performance Standards.


 


2.  Performs detailed telephone investigations and maintains disability status checks with physicians and policyholders, as directed by examiner.


 


3.  Arranges medical examinations; may send physician cover letter with assistance or approval of examiners.


 


4.  Types legal documents, Answers, Declaration of Readiness to Proceed, Compromise and Release, and other related forms and memorandums.


 


5.  Makes disability and medical payments within given authority.  Inputs and monitors automatic disability schedule payments and cancellations.


 


6.  Timely management of assigned tasks by systems diary.


 


7.  Proficient use of computer to include claims information, coverage, DWC notices, and payment verification.  Knowledge of Word, Outlook Calendar, E-Mail, Performa and Zeus required.


 


8.  Calculates wage statements making appropriate adjustments in the system.


 


9.  Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


 





EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


 





1.  High School Diploma or equivalent.





2.  Minimum 1-2 years Workers? Compensation experience preferred.


3.  Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills required.  Telephone courtesy a must.





4.  Bilingual skills preferred.





5.  Must possess strong skills in time management, organization and problem solving.


6. IEA Certification in progress
