Claims Executive

Detailed Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions





% of Time

TASKS 

Procedures: 

? Follow all claims department procedures including claims reporting, subpoena handling, follow up and file maintenance. 

Application of Coverage Knowledge and Skills: 

? Work primarily on medium to large complex property claims. Provide adequate coverage/policy interpretation for large property claims, business interruption, boiler and machinery and crime claims.

? Be familiar with and able to provide assistance on complex, large liability and workers compensation claims issues.

? Attend claims meetings with clients, carriers, legal counsel and adjusters to review claim status, resolve and settle claims issues.

? Provide follow up calls, written correspondence and keep records of all work done on behalf of our clients. 

Claims Advocacy 

? Prepare coverage arguments for client advocacy and form coverage positions as client advocate.

? Assist client with arbitration preparation and support as needed

? Work with client legal counsel on coverage, claims and strategy for settlement

? Use negotiation skills to provide best possible outcome for clients in settlement.

? Build and establish strong relationships with carriers, adjusters and clients  

Claims Database Technology and Loss Run Work: 

? Be capable of doing all functions in database including claims updates, running claims runs, analyzing claims information and preparing information for underwriting review. 

? Interpreting claims status to prompt various parties, broker, staff, client and adjuster to take next step including prepayment, partial payment, gather information, work with subrogation contacts.

? Understand loss valuations  

Training: 

? Develop training materials with a client and service team perspective for coverage reviews, loss reporting procedures, claims guidelines in handling various situations.

? Deliver claims training in person, during webinars and in client workplace.

Minimum Qualification Requirements



Education:

? High school degree or equivalent

? College degree preferred

? Minimum of 10 years commercial property and casualty experience

? Minimum of 5 years in claims handling or adjusting experience

Experience:

? Must possess a valid insurance license

? Must continue to meet C.E. requirements for license renewal 

? Ability to handle large accounts; a large volume desk

? Must be knowledgeable of the insurance marketplace

? Familiarity with agency management systems, internet, email 

? Knowledgeable about claims processes including client advocacy, loss valuations, handling of large, complicated property, boiler and machinery and crime claims. 

? Able to work independently without direct supervision
