Claims Specialist

Through knowledge of reinsurance practices, contract interpretation, processing and information needs for the recovery of claims as evidenced by a minimun of three to five years of reinsurance and/or insurance claims experience.

Strong analytical and problems solving skills.

Very strong communication skills, both oral and written to sufficiently describe and explain business situations and problems, with particular emphasis on technical writing.

Extensive knowledge of direct insurance claims handling practices as they relate to reinsurance contracts.Through knowledge of policy coverages, account structures and reinsurance contract terms and contracts. Analyzes, interprets and applies the terms and conditions of reinsurance contracts.

Examines and evaluates case facts and pertinent claims information to verify and comply with various reinsurance agreements.

Prepares comprehensive reinsurance workpackages informing reinsurers and brokers of reinsurance reserves and payments due.

Obtains claim documentation to meet contractual reporting requirements to expedite the collection efforst.

Reviews contract terms for special provisions which may apply to a specific loss.

Requirements:

Business Degree preferred.
Three to five years experience in insurance/reinsurance claims.
Strong verbal and written communications
Strong problem solving and organizational skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
CPCU or ARe designations are a plus.
