Client Manager, Employee Benefits

 

Job Summary:

To work closely with producing and consulting staff on a wide variety of projects involving servicing existing and acquiring new clients. The position requires a high degree of self direction, managing multiple tasks and working with more than one individual concurrently.  Individuals seeking this position must also work independently and make independent decisions which involve the placement of insurance products and providing advice related benefit programs to clients.  The position also requires the ability to organize, monitor and execute strategic plans for clients.

 

The diversity of client work and day to day challenges requires incumbents to have well developed communication and analytic skills allowing them to organize ideas and data into understandable formats.  The position requires patience and well developed interpersonal skills to effectively deal with a wide variety of personalities and organizations.  Highly developed organizational skills as well as knowledge of benefit plans and human resource issues associated with them is required. 

 

The position also requires completion of some traditional clerical tasks such as typing, filing, distribution of materials and maintenance of client data.  Maintenance of client data requires learning the Integrated Business Systems software (IBS) programs unique to Willis and Willis benefit support technologies. Some local travel to client facilities is required.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Client Management:

Organizations retain Willis to assist them with the design, funding, administration, communication and regulatory compliance issues associated with the provision of employee benefit programs.  Willis also offers clients a value proposition focused on helping clients understand and control their costs, take work off their desks and educate their employees. Individuals in the position must be able to work in conjunction with the client producer to independently analyze a client?s needs in these areas and then develop and execute a plan to address them.

 

Projects:

Position involves working on a wide variety of benefit and human resource projects for clients.  Incumbent must be able to identify problems and issues relating to clients, suggest or formulate sound recommendations, and participate in or independently complete projects and implement solutions.

 

Business Acquisition:

There are two specific focuses to business acquisition. First is to assist in the development of proposals for prospective clients. Development of proposals involves organizing, writing, proofreading, and assembling proposals for prospective clients.

 

The second involves evaluating and finding new vendor relations for existing clients. This involves identifying client problems, and working closely with other staff to develop requests for proposals from various providers of insurance products or services, as well as analyzing the responses. The position will also require developing knowledge of the various service and insurance markets. 

 

Incumbent will be expected to place insurance products or individual coverage?s and smaller group products as well as independently place certain coverage?s with larger clients.

 

Clerical:

Applicant must be willing to perform a variety of traditional clerical tasks, which include organizing filing systems, maintenance of information, tracking time spent with clients as well as distribution of materials, mail, etc. Applicant must also be willing to become familiar with the Willis IBS system and WEM compliance issues.  The IBS system involves entry of detailed information regarding clients to track receipt of commissions, and to bill client?s fees for specific consulting projects. WEM is a process of disclosure, transparency and documentation associated with client relations.  Learning and using value added technologies such as Willis Communicator, Communication Manager and WillisMed are also a necessity.

 

Special Projects:

Applicant must be willing to participate in a wide variety of special projects which may involve both internal and external efforts, such as seminars, reorganizing filing systems, special mailings, etc.

Applicant should have a desire to grow in their position. As the benefit practice in Milwaukee grows, individuals will be offered additional opportunities with respect to career growth and development. This will involve the ability to perform consulting services as well as produce new revenue for the practice.

 

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

?  At least 2 years of experience in a similar position

?  Applicant must possess a valid Wisconsin driver?s license and transportation.

?  College degree and/or post high school graduate work in the area of human resources, or benefits.

?  Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.

?  Analytic and math skills.

?  Possess a Wisconsin Intermediary Insurance License for life and health within 90 days of hire.

?  Experience in employee benefits.

?  Well developed oral, written, and inter-personal communication skills.

?  Ability to work independently with minimum direction.
